In the month since my last post:
1. My mom came to visit! We had a fantastic visit filled with homebaked sweets, Canasta, long walks, pedicures, and more shopping than I care to admit. It was fun to show her our balance between a very American existence (we went to the Army Base's Oktoberfest the first day she was here) in what can be a very foreign Korea (a perturbed man on the train giving us stern instructions in Korean, but then inexplicably bowing to us when we got off the train).
Andrew had mother-in-law duty for part of the time she was here (aka a field exercise for a week), but we made do by acting girlier than we would have otherwise (aka more shopping, more girltalk, more dessert-for-dinner). A sampling:

2. The rice has been harvested. It's a sad time for me. While our fall weather has been gorgeous, the harvesting of the golden rice means we'll have drab beige fields all winter long. I'll miss the bright kelly green of the newly planted rice changing into the golden yellow of the mature rice.... And now begins the season of field burning, which on the plus side makes me continually hungry for s'mores and causes glorious sunsets, but on the negative side makes for abysmal air quality. Yuck.

3. Hmmm, guess it's been a quiet month because I can't come up with a #3. How about some more pictures?
