We're back from another trip! With only a matter of weeks between our Vietnam/Cambodia vacation and our Bali getaway, we feel very spoiled. Now our travel calendars are completely blank though.... time to start dreaming of our next destination!
To blog about Bali, I'll have to split it up into separate posts about our different destinations. The trouble with a 12 day trip is it's hard to fit into one blog post, but that's about the only drawback I can come up with....
We spent the first week off the island of Bali itself seeing the tiny islands nearby. Following a friend's advice, we went to Nusa Lembongan for 4 nights and then Gili Trawangan for 3 nights before returning to Bali to see the rice terraces of Ubud (3 nights) and the surfing town of Kuta (1 night). It was a dream of a trip with ample sunshine, crystal clear water, picturesque scenery in all directions, couldn't-be-beat company, and outstanding food and drinks.
Bali is a Hindu island in a Muslim country so it has a unique feel. The people are overwhelmingly kind and there is a pervading sense of serenity. If you don't know where to take your next vacation, make it Bali! It's far away but worth the travels ten times over. You'll thank me.
