Josh ROKs

Who flies to Korea for three days of non-stop eating and drinking?  Only Josh, buddiest of buddies.  Kate's here too for 6 weeks before she returns to the U.S. after her teaching stint in China, so the four of us braved the torrential start of monsoon season and jumped into Korean culture with both soggy feet.  My only complaint about Josh's visit: too short!  Oh, and he wouldn't taste the kimchi.

Here are a few pictures of our dinner with the Korean soldiers that Andrew works with.  Andrew says they're his favorite part of Korea.  There is conscription here and all young men are required to serve in the military for two years and the guys with the best English serve in U.S. Army units.  I'm thoroughly charmed by these guys too- especially by their bashfulness.  A couple of soju shots will put a stop to that though!

Andrew and Josh singing a mean rendition of  "Don't Stop Believin" at the karaoke bar that would make the Glee cast envious.  Karaoke is all the rage here and it's taken uber-seriously. Karaoke establishments rent private rooms to groups and have oodles of songs.  They even supply tambourines for accompaniment!  The only drawback is the ridiculous reverb that echoes way too much, making any rap or fast songs more or less impossible.  Great entertainment though!
